Why I Do What I Do

Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” This statement is so close to my heart that I have been privileged to provide supported living services for the last 18 years. I am passionate about supporting people to have lives that they choose and that make sense for them. Everyone has the right and ability to shape the way they live. I believe that through the use of specific tools we can gain more knowledge about what is important to each person we support, and how we can support them best. My association with The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices reinforces and guides my passion for finding the balance between the two. Listening with our whole hearts and minds shows the respect of individualism and capacity that everyone deserves.

I have experience supporting people with a variety of diagnoses including Prader Willi Syndrome, Autism and Aspbergers Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and dual mental health diagnoses including psychosis, depression, bi-polar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and Tourettes Syndrome.
